Checkerboard Wrasse Halichoeres hortulanus are a fantatic choice as they will readily search out zoa eating nudibranch, bristle worms, Brown or Planaria Flatworms – Convolutriloba retrogemma and other reef pests.
These wrasse will attack shrimp occassionally. However, we have and commonly house them together with zero issues noted. Including Sknunk Cleaner shrimp, Peppermint Shrimp, and even Harlequin shrimp

Natural Ecology: Checkerboard Wrasse are found exploring the reefs of the Indo Pacific. This fish is prolific at eating pests in the nooks of the reef rock outcrops. They are known to dive into the sand bed tfor shelter and at night time.Aquarium Size : 75 GALLON MINIMUM

Feeding: Plankton, blended Mysis shrimp, baby brine shrimp, pellet (occassionaly) and flake.
Aggression: NON/SEMI Aggresive; This species is often very passive towards Tangs and other more aggressive species. Although we have NEVER noted any issue with they dozens we have housed they do eat invertabrates. But if moderatly feed we believe these fish to be reef safe.
